Appearing in the Local Pack

There’re a number of key differences between ranking organically and ranking in the Local Pack.
Let’s take bike repair as an example.
The top results in my location show are bike repair places in Halifax, followed by a row of YouTube videos. The top organic result is Halfords.
Halfords website has over 35 thousand pages and half a million backlinks, the top local pack website just 11 pages a five backlinks.
The above example demonstrates that even the smallest businesses can compete with world renowned businesses at the local level.
More often than not, very small businesses should focus on ranking in for local intent search terms rather than taking on large national businesses.
Formerly known as AdWords and often referred to Sponsored Ads, Google Ads are used by businesses ranging from local plumbers to huge enterprises like Amazon.
The great thing about Google Ads is that you be top of Google within hours.
It doesn’t take long to set up a simple Google Ads campaign, although it does take time and skill to create the ad copy.
It’s useful to check your competitors ads to give yourself a head start.
Of course it’s vital your landing page is setup in a way that’s going to convert a high percentage of your visitors into a promising sales lead.
Google’s main rival in the paid ads space is Facebook. But Google Ads and Facebook Ads are very different beasts in almost every other respect.
The knowledge and expertise required to profitably implement Facebook Ad campaigns is far greater than the skills needed to profit from Google Ads.
So why bother?
You can’t dismiss Facebook Ads because the results can be remarkable.
Generally I don’t recommend you attempt Facebook Ads on your own unless you’re sure you know what you’re doing.
